This morning our Rock Star was Lexi.  Lexi's favorite book is beauty and the beast. Her favourite character is the beast. She cannot wait for him to show him up every time

In the afternoon our Rock Star was Beckham.  Beckham likes to go to Trolls falls in Kananaskis. His family goes hiking there every year and we used to be able to see trolls hidden along the hike. Look at the Frozen waterfall in the winter and walk behind the upper falls in the summer.

We've been working super hard on our Poem this week. Ask your child to read the poem for you.  They will ALL be able to rock out this poem.

 This morning our Rock Star was Sadie.  Her favourite outdoor space is her Grandparents backyard! She loves to jump on the trampoline with her sister and her cousins.

This afternoon our Rock Star was Owen. 1) Elbow River at Bragg Creek Provincial Park 2) It is special because I go with my friends and family. I like playing with my friends there. I feel happy because I like how pretty it is and I saw a deer one time. I feel calm when I am there. 3) Some of my favourite things to do are walking in the river, eating lunch near the river, and throwing rocks in the river. There is a trail nearby called Alder Trail where I learned about different trees-spruce, lodgepole pine and aspen.

Today we drew different landscapes to add to our video.  Each child was able to choose their favourite landscape to draw and colour.

 

Today we were so busy learning the routing of our guided reading literacy stations that we did not have time for our Rock Stars.  Now that as a class we understand how our literacy stations work we should be back to our Rock Star and Calendar tomorrow. 

Yesterday I had mentioned that the Kindergarten team is looking for more landscape pictures to add to our Acknowledgment of the Land for Monday, April 4 assembly. If you have not yet added your picture to our Google Classroom here is your friendly reminder. This acknowledgment of the land will be used multiple times over the next few months.  What we have recently learned, in true 2022 fashion, is that this will now be a short in-person assembly at 9:45. How awesome is it that our AM students will have the opportunity to present in our first in-person assembly since December 2019? With that being said we now have a little more work to do to get our AM friend's assembly ready.  Please practice the song  The One and Only You! The children have learned the very basic choreography for the chorus and that is the most important.  We are also asking that all Kindergarten students wear their orange shirts on Monday since they will be standing in front of the school.

 This morning our Rock Star was Quentin.  Quentin's favourite book is Pig the Elf. It is about Pig the Pug who gets greedy at Christmas and wants a mountain of gifts. Quentin's favorite part is when Pig bites Santa's butt.

This afternoon our Rock Star was Aubrey.  Aubrey shared that her favourite landscape is outside Toronto at her Grandmas house.  She likes to play and run on the farm and play with the animals and her friends. 

Today we changed table groups, turned into "almost grade one kids", started to learn to read starting with our weekly poem, began Guided Reading in small groups, started to use finger spaces in our writing, and had fun playing with our friends.  It was a GREAT start to the last part of the year. 

 World Down Syndrome Day is on Monday, March 21. Today at school we celebrated World Down Syndrome Day because we will all be on Spring Break. 

To celebrate we used sidewalk chalk to decorate the sidewalks with different coloured socks.

We also painted in our visual journal in whichever colours we wanted and decorated two different coloured and bright socks to celebrate the special day.

This morning we celebrated our birthday girl Siena!  Happy Birthday Siena.  We hope that you have the most fantastic day.

This afternoon we didn't have a Rock Star but we all took turns with the jobs.

Today we were very very busy trying to keep up with that pesky Leprechaun.  First, when we came into the classroom we found little tracks EVERYWHERE!!

We made the cutest little Leprechauns with a pot of gold.  The gold is extra sparkly which we all LOVE.

We practiced our fine motor skills and writing skills.  We cut up paper and glued it into a shamrock shape. Then we came up with different reasons why we were lucky.

We had some fun with Leprechaun names.

We did a VERY super cool experiment where we made a rainbow.

AND we found the Leprechaun! HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!!! From Rockin' Room 136!!!!

 

 This. morning our Rock Star was Raiden.  Raiden's favourite is Who Needs a Checkup? In the story someone doesn't want to go to the dr. but then at the appointment, the boy gets a needle but he also gets a popsicle. His favourite part is when the dr checks his heart. 

In the afternoon we moved on to our next round of Rock Star Show and Share.  Decker went first for this round.  His favorite place in nature is his grandma's backyard in Barnwell because she has so many places to play. He likes swimming, playing in the playhouse, Sun tanning

This is a friendly reminder to add the next round of Rock Star to our google classroom. The AM is still going through our last round but the afternoon has moved onto our new round.

 This morning our Rock Star was Chloe.  Her favourite book is Catstronauts - Race to Mars. It’s about Catstronauts going on a race to mars with these different people. It’s Teams of cats. They are racing to Mars. Her favourite part is when all the rocket ships blast off into space. I like it because cats are my favourite animal and they are astronauts that are cats.

This afternoon our Rock Star was Teigan.  Teigan's favourite book is 101 Dalmations. The story is about a mommy and daddy dalmation and all their puppies. When the kitty gets scared and jumps up

Today we learned the letter X and W. We also made a picture of cute little leprechauns.

We have TWO pieces of exciting information to share with our Kinder families at New Brighton School!!!! FIRST, thanks to our amazing Parent Council we now have a Home Reading Program!! There will be more information coming your way soon to support our littlest readers in the school.  BUT, before we get to that point, our SECOND piece of really exciting info to share is that we are looking for a PARENT VOLUNTEER in each class to help support this program.  The volunteer would help once a week for the first 20-30 minutes of the school day (8:10-8:30 and 12:25-12:45) to exchange and record books. If this is something you are interested in AND you have your full CBE volunteer clearance, please email me.  Once again we are incredibly excited to welcome parent volunteers into our classroom again and what better way to start than our new Home Reading Program.

 This morning our Rock Star was Keira.  Keira loves, An Anthology of Intriguing Animals. It is a book where we learn different things about hundreds of animals. Her favourite part of the book is learning about the peacock and the tarantula.

In the afternoon we celebrated Decker!  Happy Birthday Decker!!!

As we work towards learning all the letters in the alphabet today we learned the letter Vv.
