Day 76

Our morning Rock Star was Arielle. Her family loves going downtown to eat Dimsum! They go for birthdays or any special occasion we can. They love it there and It’s one of their favourite places to go! Not to mention delicious.

In the afternoon our Rock Star was Tristan.  Tristan's family loves to decorate the tree together and they look forward to it all year.  It is a special time because they spend quality time together decorating the tree and it is fun.  It also gets them excited for the holidays and lets them know that Christmas is coming.

Today we learned about the number 8.  We are getting so good at representing our numbers!!!

We also practiced writing our names again just like we did yesterday.  We are so happy that we are all using momma and baby letters in our name!

Day 75

Our Rock Star this morning was Lukas.  He shared that every Christmas season we bring out the Night Before Christmas and read it as a family on Christmas Eve.

Our Rock Star in the afternoon was Isa. He celebrates a holiday called Eid and it comes twice a year but never on the same date. There is Big Eid (Eid al Adha) and Little Eid (Eid al Fitr.) We decorate with lights and balloons and streamers. We dress up in our best clothes and go to the mosque to pray and then visit friends and family and eat lots of food. All the kids get money, treats, and gifts. Eid lasts 3 days. The picture shows Isa and his brothers dressed up in their Eid outfits opening their Eid gifts.

My goal in December was to work on writing our names with uppercase at the beginning and the rest lowercase.  We had fun kinda talking about a momma bear protecting her babies.  Today we spent the day really working on writing our names nicely with upper and lowercase letters.  We will continue to work on this skill.  We also had a lot of work on our letters that go in the basement and up into the attic.  Ask your child where their letters go and see if they can write their name for you using a momma bear and her babies. :)

**Friendly reminder to fill in your child's Round 3 of our Rock Star presentations.  This is focused on our family traditions.  You can think of a tradition as a winter holiday, summer vacation or any type of celebration.**

Day 74

This morning our Rock Star was Jason. Jason's family loves to decorate together gingerbread cookies and houses. Jason is holding the pieces together. He is also helping his brother by decorating the roof with candy. But what he loves most it's eating the candy. He is also excited to finish all the decorating and to eat the cookies and the decorated parts of the gingerbread house. He is having so much fun with his older brother.

Grayson was our Rock Star in the afternoon. He shared that he loves reading "Silly Sam Squirrel and the Brown Christmas Lightbulb" is a Christmas tradition in our family especially because my Appy wrote it for my Mom when she was a kid. It's about friendship and the true meaning of Christmas. Grayson gave us a copy of the book and we read it together as a class today.

January is all about winter. How can you tell it is winter?

- the snow

- leaves are not on the trees

- grass is covered in snow

- it is cold

- summer flowers are gone

- find animal tracks on the ground

- some animals are hibernating

- kids are building snowmen

- kids are sledding

- kids are skating

- families are skiing

We were so happy to be together again.
