Day 106

 

                                                        We started our day with sensory bins.  

This morning our AM crew had music and our PM crew had library and we went outside.  Just a reminder that we go outside up until -20 so please make sure your child is dressed and ready for the weather.  Today we wrote about a time when we showed courage.   We also started our third round of Rock Star.  This round is dedicated to your child's chores or responsibilities at home.  I have loved seeing all the duties my kinder friends have so far in the pictures.  

The Power School marks for February are LIVE today.  Also, the conferences will be in person on Thursday and virtual on Friday.  The forms to sign-up should be online soon as well. 

Day 105

 Today we learned the letters Z and W.  Last week was so busy that Mrs. Hellyer forgot to teach the letter of the week so this week we are putting two letters together.  We are almost done our alphabet before we move onto our sight words and poems.  We also spent some time finishing up odds and ends that we needed to work on.  The AM crew went home with new home reading books but the PM crew will go home with new books tomorrow. 

Day 104

This morning we started with Friday iPad time.  Today we made a beautiful watercolour bear art piece. We started with by using watercolour.  While we waited for it to dry and we had PE with Mrs. Hughes' class.  We spent extra time cleaning the classroom today 

Day 103

We've had so many celebrations and extra fun learning in Kindergarten this month.  Today was the perfect day to open up the sensory centers.  In math we were able to choose one number to represent in as many ways as we could.  We were all able to demonstrate an understanding using pictures, ten frames, and hands.  Most of us were able to demonstrate our understanding using dice dots but tally marks were pretty tricky.  Next week we will focus a little more on tally marks and dice dots to help us represent our numbers.

Day 102

 

Kinders are KIND

Today was Pink Shirt Day.  We read Have you Filled a Bucket Today and talked about how to be kind to our friends.  When we say and do kind things it fills our friend's buckets and our own.  When we say and do unkind things it empties our friend's buckets and our own.  You will hear more and more about safe and unsafe choices, bucket filling, and bucket dipping.  We will continue to discuss these topics in class to ensure that we are all making bucket-filling choices.  

101 DAYS OF FUN!

 Happy 101 Days of School.  Today we celebrated 101 days of school dalmation style. 

 

We made our 101 dalmatian hats, stamping little potato spots in our visual journals with black paint and counting and dancing to 100.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is Pink Shirt Day.

 Happy 100 Days of School!! I can't believe it has been 100 days of Kindergarten.  Today we learned about the courageous bear.  We talked a lot about being brave, showing courage and some of our fears.  Being courageous is doing something even though you are a little scared or don't want to.  

In Kindergarten we are also having many children needing reminders to keep their hands to themselves and stay in their own bubbles.  We read a story about safe and unsafe choices, safe and unsafe touches, and safe and unsafe secrets.  For Mrs. Hellyer, a safe choice is to walk in the halls, and an unsafe choice is to run in the halls.  A safe touch is a high five and an unsafe touch is kicking my friend.  A safe secret, is what Mrs. Hellyer is planning on wearing for 101 Days of school and an unsafe secret is when my friend is not being nice to me but I don't say something because I don't want to get them in trouble.

Day 99

 HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!  

We had way too much fun today.  We decorated our bags with lots of hearts and did the cutest tear art piece in our visual journal.  Of course Mrs. Hellyer added sparkle to our page because everything is always better with a little sparkle!!!

Tomorrow is Orange Shirt Day and we will have an assembly in the morning to introduce courage.
