Picture Day is coming! 

  Today the AM class participated in Orange Shirt Day! Each student received a painted rock, we sent all of our thoughts and feelings about how we want to feel at school into that rock and then placed it in the Keeping the Circle Strong display.  This was created by each student in the school last year.  Now, all of the AM kinders also have a place in the circle.  (PM students will have the same opportunity on Friday) 

It's very exciting in Kindergarten when we get a brand new learning tool and even more exciting when it is a personal set to put in the supply bin! Each student received a brand new pencil case with a new pack of pencil crayons inside.  This is each student's responsibility to take care of the supplies in their bin! We worked on a beautiful colouring page for our Orange Shirt Day Art in our Visual Journal.  We are working on taking our time, trying our best, choosing the right colour and colouring in all white spaces.   

Yesterday's story spoke about how an orange shirt made Phyllis (the main character) happy.  Students shared what makes them happy. 

AM students went to the Music and PM students went to the gym for P.E. 

Reminders 

* Tomorrow (Wednesday) is the Terry Fox Run! This will be outdoors. 

* Thursday - No School Truth and Reconciliation

Whooo hooo! Check the backpack for your child's own personal NBS Orange Shirt Day shirt! Please, please, please put your child's name on them as there are 600 in the school. 

AM - Tomorrow (Tuesday) wear your new orange shirts for Orange Shirt Day! 

PM - Wear your orange shirts on Friday!

The AM class had their first P.E class with Mrs. Clare in the gym today! What fun! 

The PM class experienced their first library time in the library with Mrs. Gull.  The PM class each has a book in their backpacks.    Monday will be PMs day so make sure the book is read and returned by next Monday so that they can choose a new book. 

AM library day will be Thursdays, this will begin next week. 

We read the book, Phyills's Orange Shirt.  We spent some time discussing how we want to feel at school.  We created 2 pages in our Visual Journal, which we will be adding to over the week. 

Remember, there is no school on Thursday in honour of Truth and Reconciliation Day. 

Day 15

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY CRUZ!!

We are so excited that we were able to spend your special day with you.  We hope that you have the most fantastic evening.

Today we started our calendar.  When you are the Rock Star you get to lead the calendar.  We also sang our calendar songs.  Ask your child if they remember any of the songs they learned.  Right now we are working on learning the first letter of our name in sign language.  See if your child can remember the first letter.  If not it is ok because we will be working on it for a while. :)

Today our September learning package went home.  You can see all the amazing work that your child has done so far.  

Friendly reminder that there is no school tomorrow but I will see you VIRTUALLY.  If you have not yet signed up for conferences just let me know and I will find a time that works. 

Day 14

Happy Day 14 for the kids and Day 1 for me!  Today we did q-tip name art.  Using a q-tip we wrote our name in our visual journal. This is perfect for name recognition and fine motor practice. 

Today the kids had a chance to check out the book fair. Check backpacks for a paper that was sent home about our book fair.
