Valentine's Day and Round Three Rockstar/Top Banana

Hi Parents,

Can you believe we’re already preparing for Valentine’s Day?!? Now more than ever we need to celebrate when we have the chance and so this year we will be celebrating Valentine’s Day in Kindergarten!!!!

So, what do you need to know?

1.     On Feb 14 come dressed in Valentine’s Day Colours (red, pink, purple, white)

2.     If you choose to participate we will be distributing Valentine’s Day cards.

a.     Students can distribute Valentine's Day cards this year.  If you choose to participate, please make sure to send 22 cards so that everyone gets one.

b.     Please do not address them to individual students, instead,

TO: MY FRIEND

FROM: STUDENT NAME (Great time to practice name writing)

c.     Please send them with your child on Feb 14 in a ziplock bag

Rock Star Share/Top Banana

We have a new round of Rock Star/Top Banana starting in the next week or two.  Please submit to Google Classroom as soon as possible.

If you have not completed the Traditions Rock Star/Top Banana, this is your last chance!

Moving on to a new round of Rock Star/Top Banana! Take some time to help your child choose a favourite story to share with the class. Read the story together a couple of times and go over the questions below. It would be helpful to provide the answers as well so I can help to support if they get stuck.

1) What is the title of the story?
2) What is the story about?
3) What is your favourite part?

Attach a picture of your child and the book.

Example

1) Edward the Emu
2) It is about an emu who lives at the zoo. He doesn’t want to be an emu anymore so he tries to be many other animals like a snake and a lion.
3) My favourite part is the end when he wants to be an emu again but the zoo replaced him with a new emu! I also love all the rhymes.

We love hearing about what is special to your child and look forward to learning about their favourite book.  Thank you again for your support with your child’s learning.
