Day 43

We have been singing this fun song about Peace all week and have made actions to go with it.  We had a great conversation about what it means to have Peace in your fingers, words and hearts.  Students shared their ideas about gentle hands, kind words and helping to take care of each other.  We also talked about the poppy being a symbol to remember our veterans and also a symbol of peace and how lucky we are.  WE created some beautiful poppy art.

We practiced making sets of numbers in our books with paint and our fingers.

Dear New Brighton Families,

For the past few weeks Ms. Lysak has been working with our students to prepare a virtual Remembrance Day Ceremony that we will be sharing with our students through a private Google Meet in their classrooms. We recognize that our greater school community has traditionally been invited to the school to observe and honor our current and past veterans and we have taken great pride in that. With COVID guidelines preventing visitors into the school we have decided to share a link to the video that is being shared with our students on Tuesday November 10 th at 10:30. A School Messenger will be sent out with the link to the video Tuesday morning.

Veterans Food Bank and Poppies The pandemic has hit many charities hard and the Veterans Food Bank and Poppy drive is no exception to that. We were able to reach out to the Legion this year and receive a poppy sticker for each student and a donation bin to collect any donations that families would like to contribute. Students can bring their donation of any size to their classroom teacher next week. The Poppy sticker has become a safer more child friendly alternative to the traditional poppy with a pin and every child will receive one regardless of whether a donation was made. We will also be collecting non-perishable food donations for the Veterans Food Bank all next week. We will have donation boxes at each entrance and students will be able to place any items for donation in as they arrive at school. Collections will be accepted right until Friday afternoon. We thank you in advance for helping support this very important cause during these difficult times.

New Brighton School T-Shirt and Hoodie Orders Tonight at midnight is the deadline for ordering T-Shirts and Hoodies. Order forms for those families interested in ordering school apparel are online on the school website. This will be the only time we will be placing an order this year and we will not be ordering extras so make sure to get your order in today so you don't miss out.
