Day 47

Happy Friday the 13th!!

This morning we had fun making patterns using our pumpkin seeds.  We are learning to use 2 and 3 different colours to make our pattern.  Some friends challenged themselves to use 4 colours.

Today our PM crew made their poppies.  We started by painting red poppies on a piece of paper.  Once the paint dried we cut out the poppy and glued it onto a newspaper article from the last day of the war. We added a black circle to our poppy and voila!

Our pumpkin seeds are growing quickly.  We love checking on the every day and watching the roots grow.

Important Rock Star Information
******************

We are doing a Rock Star sharing task involving our names. Your child will give their name presentation on the day that they are the Rock Star. What’s in a name? Quite a lot actually!! Parents often spend countless hours pining over name choices before the arrival of their new bundles of joy. Sometimes the choice is easy and other times it can take months before a name is agreed upon. But your name is a big part of what makes you, YOU! As Dr. Seuss so brilliantly said, “Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!...” As per our curriculum, we spend a lot of time in kindergarten discussing our individuality and that each one of us is unique. We have talents and strengths that set us apart from our friends. Wouldn’t the world be a boring place if we all looked and acted the same?!! And what’s more unique than a name, especially one chosen for you with love by your parents? It’s time to share our name stories in kindergarten! Please take some special cuddling time with your kindergarten child to share with him/her the story of how you chose the perfect name(s) for him/her.

Help your child to prepare a small oral sharing of how they got their name(s).

1. Their full name (including middle and last names)

2. How you chose the name/names

3. The meaning of their first name (have fun looking it up together if you do not know)

Please jot down the answer to these three points and attach them our Google Classroom. On their Rock Star day I can help your child if they get stuck when presenting.
