Day 14

As we continue our focus on writing our names, today we used Q-Tips to paint our names in our visual journals.  These turned into beautiful rainbows.

Just a reminder that there is no school Thursday or Friday for Kindergarten. Tomorrow is our first round of parent conferences.  I know that there has been some confusion with the site and I am sorry about that.  There is still time to book an appointment.  As far as I am concerned everyone has chosen in person.  If you require a phone or online can you please email me?  Also, children are invited to our conference but if you prefer to come alone that is ok too. Whatever works for you.  This is a time for you to share with me about your child and build our relationship as we work to help our little kinder friends grow over the school year.

Heart to Belong

To kick off Indigenous Education week, we are linking our holistic learning throughout the week leading up to our Truth and Reconciliation assembly on September 29th.  On this day, all children as asked to wear an orange shirt. New Brighton is asking, What is something you can do? Kindergarten has been given the challenge to display how we have a heart to belong in New Brighton.  We have decided to share our challenge with parents during this conference time.  Every grade has a planter box outside the front of the school.  We will be giving you the opportunity to plant a few bulbs, if you choose, during conferences in our kindergarten box.  This week, the students were shown which garden belongs to us and each class planted one bulb and added some kindergarten magic and love.  We can't wait to welcome our tulips in the Spring to share with the New Brighton community and let everyone know we all belong.
