Day 7

Happy Monday!  As a mom, I ask my kids what they did at school and they always say, "I don't know." That is why I think our blogs are so cool.  I know that some are you could be curious to see how our days actually go.  Here are some of the basic routines that we do every day.

**In the afternoon someone has an alarm in their backpack that goes off every day at 1:10. It is always when the kids are doing their learning job and it causes a distraction.  Is it possible to double-check your child's backpack for something that could be causing this alarm and change the time? That would be really helpful. :)

Daily Routines:

We are now into many of our daily routines.  The kids start the class by taking off their shoes on the carpet and putting their outdoor shoes away before coming into the classroom to put on their indoor shoes.

Attendance:
Once inside the classroom with their shoes on each child finds their name rock and puts it into a special bin.

Birthdays:
Birthdays are extra special in Kindergarten.  On your child's special day they get to be our Rock Star AND get their picture taken with our cool birthday poster.  They also will receive
a birthday crown to wear all day.

Calendar:
Once we have finished our welcome song and our attendance our Rock Star gets to lead the calendar.

Welcome Message:

Every day we read our welcome message and it helps us see what our Community Meeting will be about.

Rock Star:

This week we have started another routine.  Every day we will have a new ROCK STAR! This Rock Star is a VIP who gets to be the line leader, share something cool about themselves, lead the calendar and anything else that may come up during the day that needs someone special to help with.  This round the Rock Star is sharing about all their favourite things.  This morning our Rock Star was Brooklyn and in the afternoon our Rock Star was Jeremy.

Power UP:

Power up is the learning activity that we do for the day.  Once we get into a schedule we will have a different activity that we do.  For example; Mondays are learning the letter and printing it, Tuesdays are journals, Wednesdays =  math etc. This has not been set up yet for this year.  Currently, we are working on fine motor and pre-preprinting skills.  Today we were making trees in our books.

Terry Fox Run:

Thank you to those that have emailed me about writing a special name on your child's Terry Fox sticker.  There is still time to let me know who your child is running for.  If I do not hear from you by Wednesday I will be writing HOPE on your child's sticker.  AM Crew will be running the Terry Fox Run on Thursday and the PM Crew will be running the Terry Fox Run on Friday.

We are also fundraising for Cancer Research.  If you are able to donate a Toonie for Terry that would be great.  Our school goal is $1000.
